India and the United Nations (UN) recently launched a capacity-building initiative to execute the development deliverables that India promised during its G20 Presidency this year. Through this initiative, India also aims to share their best practices with other countries in the Global South (For a long time India has considered the Global South to be an important player in the development of the world). This initiative is set to be a significant push to increase the efforts being currently put in to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by making partnerships with the Global South Stronger.

Under this initiative, UN India and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) have also partnered together to utilize India's Technological and Economic Cooperation and to share India's development experiences with the world. Many capacity-building workshops and trainings are also set to take place in a variety of countries in the Global South as a part of this initiative.

I find this initiative to be great and am delighted to see that a company I am currently volunteering with is helping build capacity at such a macro level. I find it important that this platform is helping countries learn from each other's development experiences.

Oxford University Press recently organized a Capacity Building and Training Workshop for teachers in Delhi's Schools. This workshop was focused on the importance of integrating art into education and aimed at teachers for grades 1 to 5. Some key areas that this workshop examined were that Art Education is built around the different elements of Art such as Theatre, Drawing, Music, etc., and different ways in which Art Integrated Learning can occur across different subjects.

I find this workshop to be a great platform where teachers can learn new techniques of teaching that make their lessons more interesting for their students. I believe that art is one of the perfect mediums to do this. This is as I agree with how this article states that art covers all areas of a child's development - Arts such as Drama and Theatre help in one's social development while Sketching or Drawing can help in one's spiritual development.

I am glad to see that such workshops are also being organized in 8 other cities across India. Kudos to Oxford University Press for thinking of such a creative method for improving students' learning experiences in school.

Recently the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) had organised training and skill development camps for farmers in the districts of Ghaziabad and Meerut. Through these camps NCRTC wanted to teach farmers on utilising modern farming techniques to their advantage. The aim of this program was to raise awareness about modern farming techniques and boost the skills of the farmers.

One technique that was focused on during this training was on how to grow plants through hydroponics. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in a water based mineral solution instead of soil. This program talked about how growing plants through hydroponics can lead to a higher yield which can then further increase the earnings of farmers.

I find this training absolutely amazing as farmers are the key backbones of our society - they help produce the food that we live on. If we don't train them and help build their capacity then the development of society would be very efficient. Along with this a growing population also demands for a higher amount of food production, and this can also be achieved using these modern farming techniques.
