A few days ago many residents in Darrang district of Assam in Eastern India woke up to the sight of floods gushing into their homes. These floods took place due to heavy rainfall that caused the deadly Brahmaputra river to overflow. The impact of this disaster was felt hard due to many embankments being breached as they were not built properly. One of the major causes of this was sloppy management.

From this, it seems that partnerships are the path forward. They are essential to reducing the impact of natural disasters. If agencies had cooperated more then these embankments would not have flooded.
